Extreme Liners
The Extreme Rental liners have been backordered for a very long time, but we just received notice that a new shipment is on the way. We should have all sizes back in stock any day now.
Internet Flash Mob
Several rinks are working together on an interesting publicity idea and we want to help get the word out. On Feb 7 at 8PM (local time) they are going to encourage all of their customers to take a picture of themselves on skates, post the picture on Twitter, and use the hashtag “#sk8selfie”. By combining the interest in selfie photos to skating, they hope to create some attention to the pictures and create an “internet flashmob”.
If enough skaters do this, and if they look like they’re having fun while skating, hopefully that will help draw the attention of the skaters’ friends and also the media.
Anniversary
Southeastern Skate Supply grew out of a roller skating rink. The rink was started in 1947 and was soon using their inventory to help supply other rinks in the area. We’ve used the year 1954 as our start date, as that was when we first hired an employee who wasn’t related to one of the founders to work on the distribution side of the business, but we admit it is a little hard to pin down an exact day. As the distribution part of the business started to grow, and as the different founding families started to grow, the distribution part was spun off to the Ramsey family, and the other founders (Robertson and Crum) took the skating rink side of things.
While the date isn’t firm, our appreciation for the others that have helped to make it possible certainly is. As we enter our 60th anniversary year, we would like to take a moment to thank all of the different suppliers, employers, and customers that have been such a big part of our history. THANK YOU.
