For most, your first skating experience happens at a birthday party or a family outing. For some, it develops into a real hobby or passion that you love!
So where do you go from here? Now that you’ve found interest in the sport, where do you start?
- Find Skates. The skates you buy all depend on what kind of skating you want to do, whether it’s using them on the rink or on the sidewalks outdoors. But whatever you do, don’t buy cheap skates! And we don’t just mean the price; find skates that have great wheels, laces, etc. For a look at great skates, visit our skates page!
- Learn The Basics. Here’s a great tutorial for beginners skating! It’s important to learn the basic functionality of skates and practice a few times before getting around a bunch of people. Take a few weeks to warm up and practice!
- Sign Up For Classes. See if there’s any classes at your local rinks for jam skating, derby skating, artistic/recreational skating or even training sessions! To learn more about different types of skating here.
