The Uniq skates are now in our building.  It will take a day or two to get them unloaded and packed nicely, but we’re getting very close.  Here is a breakdown of what has arrived:

 

Icon 180 – A quad speed boot in black.

Icon 360 – Similar to the 180, but white and with a tongue flap.

Mavric – A higher end speed boot in black with a carbon sole.

Q7 – An adjustable inline speed skate for smaller feet.  Blue or pink.  Small or medium.

Bearings – Swiss or Ceramic versions to choose from.

More details on all of this coming early 2023.

Christmas and New Year’s both fall on Sundays this year.  Southeastern Skate will be closed on the Mondays afterwards (Dec 26 and Jan 2) to allow our staff to spend time with their family and friends.  We want to take a moment to wish all of our customers and vendors a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as they celebrate with their family and friends.

The new version of Roller  Derby’s Primo skates are now in stock. This is a higher end quad speed skate with a new “cleaner” look to the boot. These come in solid black or white (with some black on the boot), sizes 4-12. We are offering a special promo package on these skates now through Christmas. If you order three pair of the Primo, we’ll toss in two additional pair of other Roller Derby skates as a free promo. This is an excellent way to stock up on their new Primo plus add a couple of extra pair of skates to your pro shop display right before Christmas. Ask for more details on this special promo when you place your next order.

A couple of other new skates from Roller Derby are also now in stock. The new version of the Comet is quite different from the original version. This new version is a high top skate and has a very traditional art skate look to it. The boots come in black or white, with a tan heel and sole. The wheels are still light up wheels, that hasn’t changed, but the new version has a very traditional look and feel to it. We do still have plenty of the original Comets with the speed skate boots, so be sure to specify which version you prefer when you place your order. Both versions come in sizes 12J-5.

We also received their Elite Savoy skates. These are a very high cut artistic style boot with a black retro look to them. They’re a little higher cut than other art skates so it makes for a very distinctive look. The plates are polished aluminum with jump bars. These come in sizes 4-13.

Sure-Grip is introducing a purple version of their Velvet wheels. These aren’t here quite yet but should arrive by December 15.

We just received a big shipment of Vanilla Junior skates. They’re still unloading it right now, but this shipment will (hopefully) fill in most of the holes in our inventory of the Junior skates and give us some inventory on almost all colors and sizes.

We received a shipment from Roller Derby and now have some of the Vintage rentals back in stock.  We now have sizes 12 Junior through 8, plus size 12 adult, in stock.  We do not have sizes 9, 10, or 11.  We also received replacement laces for these skates, so you can get the same style as they originally come with when you need to replace them.

We also received a shipment from Vanilla and now have their white and black Evolution boots in stock.  These are a brand new design, for the same price as their Freestyle boots.

We received a big shipment from Roller Derby with a few new items that are now in stock.

 

The new version of the Comet skate is a high top, which is quite different from the speed Comet skates we’re used to.  They come in black or white, both colors are in sizes 12J-5.  They still feature a lightweight plate and light up wheels, but the new boots are a very traditional looking high top design with a tan sole and heel.  We do still have a good supply of the lower cut Comet skates in stock too, these remain pretty popular and they’re still available, so let us know which version you prefer when placing orders.

 

 

The new version of the Primo skate package also arrived.   The new boots look great, with a “cleaner” design in black or white with lace covers and a cinch strap around the back of the heel area for a secure fit.  The plates have 16 degree aluminum trucks.  They come with dance plugs, but they’re the 5/8” size so you can add adjustable toe stops if you prefer.  The bearings are Gold-7 Race Rated.  These come in sizes 4-12 (but we have not received any of the white sz 4 yet).

 

We also received the Elite Savoy skates.  These are a higher cut artistic style boot in black.  The plates are a polished aluminum with jump bars.  The wheels are white 57mm Kemistry Dream.  These come in sizes 4-13.

 

Christmas is getting closer than some of us would like to realize. The Christmas shopping season is almost here, with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away. Rinks have a lot of potential advantages when it comes time to sell skates. Rinks that are willing to stock skates in their shop can make convenience a big selling point. Six pair of some of the popular quad skates isn’t a large investment, and it can pay great returns over the next three months. Consider bringing in a small size run, then reorder sizes as they sell. This will let the customers have their product right away, it will let them try on sizes, and it almost guarantees to increase your sales for a mimimal investment.

Another potential advantage rinks have is offering free lessons or free skate passes with each skate purchase. Consider giving out lessons or passes with a value equal to the purchase cost of the skates, and you can advertise the skates as “free”.

A special thanks to the RSA Chapter for helping to put on the seminars on Monday night back at the hotel.

Roller Derby showed new previews of a new version of their Comet skate and also new versions of their Primo higher end quad speed skate. Both of these should be coming soon. There was a lot of interest in their Vintage quad rental skate, which is a great way to upgrade your rental rack at a very reasonable price.

Sure-Grip’s Boardwalk skates continue to be a colorful and popular quad outdoor skate. They’re hightops with a fun look.  They also showed a red version of their Original Phenolic wheels and they talked about a purple version of the Velvet wheel which should be available very soon.

Vanilla generated a lot of excitement as we had just received a new shipment of their Junior skates and our inventory on these is better than it has been in a very long time. Almost all sizes of the Zona Rosa, Mint, Stealth, Tuxedo, and Silver are now in stock. We are still pretty limited on the Code Blue (sizes 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 in stock) and the Code Red (sizes 3, 4, 6 in stock). They also had a prototype of a new higher end boot on display, as soon as we have more details on this one we’ll let you know.

Roces showed off their inline skates which are available in more sizes than other brands. Their Orlando is an adjustable skate that comes in a small (fits 9Jr-12Jr), medium (fits 13J-3) and large (fits 4-7). The FCO covers larger sizes (size 13, 14, and 15) and then the ZYX is for especially large feet (sizes 16, 17, and 18). Many rinks will use these for rentals in the sizes traditional inline rentals just don’t offer.

Uniq is a new brand getting ready to launch that will focus on the speed market. They will have a smaller adjustable inline race skate for younger skaters. They’ll have several boots designed for the higher end quad speed skating market. Look for more details on these as they get closer to launch, hopefully this winter. As soon as we have more firm details we’ll be sure to let you know.

Our annual tradeshow is coming up on Oct 3 and 4 (Mon and Tues), here at our Roanoke warehouse. This is a great chance to meet with our vendors and see their new products. It’s also a great opportunity to network with other rink operators from across this area and learn from your peers. The local RSA section is working on a program for Monday night, it is open to all, you don’t need to be a RSA member. They are bringing in a speaker to talk about how to reach more people on social media with videos and reels.

The tradeshow is open to our customers only, the general public is not allowed, but there is no charge to attend. The hotel is the Courtyard Roanoke (540-563-5002), they have a group rate so let them know you’re with the Southeastern Skate Tradeshow.

We have printed up a batch of large indoor/outdoor vinyl banners that say “We Sell Skates”. They are 12 foot across and are designed to remind people that skating rinks sell skates. There is no charge for the banners, if you’re interested just ask for one with your next order.

Roll-On has announced that they need to do a price increase that will become effective on Sept 1. If you think you need any Roll-On products soon it is probably a good idea to get an order in ahead of time to beat the price increase.

Sure-Grip will be coming out with their Zero Nuts in two new colors – white and yellow. These aren’t in stock yet but are coming very soon. They also have a new pearl colored Fame wheel that looks almost iridescent. The pearl Fame wheels are in stock now and ready to ship.

The black Stratos skates are now back in stock. These skates are a real traditional high top style with indoor wheels. We have sizes 3-12 available and ready to ship.
