Summer is generally a slow season for skating rinks and skate centers, but now that school is starting back, business is likely to start increasing in most markets right about now. This makes August the perfect time for skate center owners and managers to make sure the facility is fully stocked and prepared for the start of the school year and for regular business to pick up again.
Get Stocked
Now’s the time to order all of the skating supplies and equipment you need. Make sure your rental skates and skate wheels are all in good shape, and that your skating pro shop is fully stocked. You don’t want to miss out on a sale because something is out of stock. You should also consider adding new products to keep your regulars engaged.
But remember, skates aren’t everything. Make sure you have enough novelty items to fill your pro shop and redemption counter, too. And of course, now if the perfect time to add some kitchen and office supplies to your order.
Evaluate Your Year
Make sure to take a look back at last year. How were sales? Has all your customer feedback been addressed? Is it time to try new marketing tactics? What worked well and what could still be improved?
Prepare Your Employees
Consider holding a meeting to refresh your employees on proper customer service and safety procedures. If you’ve implemented any improvements or new products, make sure all of your employees are well-trained in communicating them to customers.
